Who is Frank Pesce you ask? I never heard of him. That's OK. A lot of people probably never heard of Frank Pesce. But Frank Pesce had one of the most interesting life's you might ever read about.

On Christmas Eve Frank Pesce of Queens wins 6.2 million dollars in the first New York State lottery. But, instead of joy and jubilation, Frank is furious. So instead of celebrating he walks to his church and stars breaking windows. Huh?

At the police station after he is arrested, the cops ask him what was wrong with him. And Frank proceeds to tell them his story. Ever since he was born, he was extraordinarily lucky, beginning with his lucky birth. He still lives with his parents, his older brother, sister and her husband. They all have a noisy relationship, and at the heart of the family is his dad. A guy with dreams but little to show for it. His Dad has lost his trucking business to a mobster, and then he lost his truck driving job as a union teamster. But, is his Dad really a loser, and why, after winning the lottery is Frank so hostile?

Frank actually plays the part of his real life brother-a New York cop in this movie. And Anthony LaPaglia play the real Frank Pesce.

This movie is one of Danny Aiello's best performances ever. He was terrific. The head of an Italian family who refused to pay money for pizza. He made his own. And they were horrible.

This is a story about people. And a family. Interesting, funny, devoted, close, comical, etc.

29Th Street (1991) stars Danney Aiello, Anthony LaPaglia, Robert Forster, Frank Pesce, Lainie Kazan.

How good is this movie? So good, that probably the only place you can find it is on Amazon. It is an OOP movie (out of print) The prices? $89.95-$304. Plus shipping. Actually until recently there was a seller on Amazon that was asking $800 for this movie. Bad movies do not sell for this much. But great ones do.
